Economy

The Economy Group looks at issues that affect all to all residents of Darlington, but which are of particular interest to people over the age of 50.

We have regular speakers to the group on subjects as:

  • Tourism and how we can promote Darlington to people of all ages
  • Darlington's status as a charter market town
  • Pensions and employment - how to find out about your entitlements
  • Redevelopment of the Town Centre.
  • Fairtrade - GOLD is now a Fairtrade organisation with their tea and coffee being served at all meetings
  • Energy efficiency - what grants are available for installation and repairs to heating systems
  • Equity Release - information to allow you to make informed choices if this would work for you
  • Information about claiming benefits

We are always keen to find out what subjects you would like to know more about.  Please feel free to contact us with your suggestions.

The Economy and Environment Group meets at Havelock Street Community Centre on the third  Wednesday of every month, from 10.30pm until 12.30pm.
