Transport Matters

The monthly Transport Group ceased to meet following the GOLD Review.  Under the new working arrangements any member can raise an issue they feel strongly about with the GOLD Focus Group.  The Focus Group will look at any issues raised and can then commission a time limited Task and Finish Group to work on that specific issue.

In July 2009 the Focus Group commissioned a Task and Finish Group to look at the problems caused to disabled people and people who are less mobile by inconsiderate parking.  This Task and Finish Group is called the Considerate Parking Group and it meets on the last Friday of every month at Wesley Court Community Centre, Wesley Street, off Yarm Road, at 2pm.

The group are currently looking at problems caused by people parking illegally in bays reserved for Blue Badge Holders at Morrisons Supermarkets and parking across dropped kerbs.

Anyone is welcome to come along and work along with members of the group.

TRANSPORT LISTENING EVENT

On 20th November 2008 a Transport Listening Event took place at the Dolphin Centre.  The event was organised by GOLD members (Growing Older Living in Darlington) and was focused on finding out what issues face older and disabled people when travelling in Darlington.  The event covered all aspects of transport from cycling, walking, buses, trains and cars.
